About our Remote Learning Provision

At Plume Academy we offer remote learning if a student needs to isolate due to Covid, or in the event of an academy closure.

Since June 2020 we are proud to have taught live lessons to students using Microsoft Teams, and since January 2021 we have offered a full timetable of live lessons to all students whenever the academy has been unable to open. Any students isolating have access to a full curriculum that is in line with what is being taught in the academy.

If a student needs to isolate, a member of the pastoral team will add your child to a year group specific Microsoft Team. Within this are channels for each subject, with details of what is being taught and tasks for students to complete. If they, or you are unsure of the work set, please don’t hesitate to contact the class teacher or a member of the pastoral team. Students will be removed from this team when the period of isolation ends.

In the event of an academy closure, we immediately switch to a live, remote offer through Microsoft Teams, where students attend virtual lessons in line with their timetable as if they were in the academy.

Within the Remote Learning Provision area of this website there are videos and FAQs to provide you with clear guidance and tips on how to access the lessons for both students, and parents and carers, as well as giving advice on any issues that may arise during the use of Microsoft Teams. A support email address has been created to ensure that specific questions or queries that students, or parents and carers have regarding access arrangements and the use of Microsoft Teams for learning are answered – teamssupport@plume.essex.sch.uk.

As an academy we are extremely proud of the remote learning provision we have and continue to offer, ensuring we are able to maintain the highest standards of teaching and learning even if students are not with us in person.
